The New Orleans Saints are seemingly active on the trade market as we approach the trade deadline in a few weeks. They're looking to reunite an All-Pro talent with his former Quarterback, who now dawns black and gold.

Saints pushing aggressively for Davante Adams

According to Ian Rapoport, New Orleans has been the most aggressive suitor for the former Pro Bowl wideout.

But it's been the New Orleans Saints who have been the most aggressive, while other teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, have closely monitored the situation and stayed in touch. The Jets remain very much in the mix, as well.

The Raiders will appease where Adams wants to go - to a degree. The Jets are his top option, according to reports from multiple notable sources. That being said, the Saints are on his list of potential teams as well.

Raiders' asking price & contract situation

There are plenty of moving parts here. Adams is in a deal that basically ends after this season.

The Raiders and general manager Tom Telesco are "stuck" on second-round compensation, sources say, and many around the league believe there's pressure from owner Mark Davis to get the deal done at that price. Multiple league executives have told CBS Sports they believe the trade will ultimately get done with a third-round pick and some change. -- Jonathan Jones

Jones also notes that Vegas could help out with paying Adams for the remainder of this season. Of course, it is possible that Adams would want a new deal from his new team sooner than later, too.

Almost any team that trades for Adams would need the Raiders to buy down some of his contract to fit under the salary cap. Doing so would facilitate a trade for Las Vegas, likely increase its compensation in return and possibly put more money in Adams' pockets. By getting his salary paid by the Raiders, Adams could enjoy the tax-free benefits of the great state of Nevada compared to, say, a New York-area team. -- Jones

    Saints' key connections with Adams

New Orleans has multiple key pieces that may help them land Adams. Derek Carr is one of his closest friends in the NFL, and they found offensive success for years with the Raiders.

Carr said he and Adams have stayed in touch -- obviously they are close friends -- and the same applies to Rodgers, who has been speaking regularly to Adams. The ever-persuasive Rodgers has been outspoken about his desires for Adams to join him, saying so whenever asked. -- Rapoport

Saints WRs coach Keith Williams has been a mentor for Adams for years. He's basically considered family to the wideout at this point of his career and life.

Williams recruited Adams to Fresno State back in the day. He's also worked with Adams as a personal trainer over the years, so the two have bonded over that time.

We will see how this saga shakes out. Adams is dealing with an injury that kept him out of action in Week 5.

He's reportedly getting healthier, though, and that may help accelerate a deal sooner than later. Teams will want a receiver who is 100% for the latter half of the 2024 season.
