Brookside Animal Hospital reopens one year after a storm damaged the building

TULSA, Okla. — One year later, the Brookside Animal Hospital has reopened and is taking pets in again.

The hospital was temporarily closed after the Father's Day storms in June 2023, leaving their building damaged.

It's been a long road for the Brookside Animal Hospital.

Not only have they returned to their original building, they've also expanded.

The owner, Dr. Stacey Smith, told FOX23 they are just happy to be back.

"I guess I am thankful that we waited because we weren't sure if we could, and it's been very hard," said Dr. Smith.

She said after the storm, their building looked as if it was completely ruined.

"We looked for other places to have our business, and nothing really panned out and at the same time, it was just waiting and waiting on this building. I'm happy that it's here; I'm happy we can finally move back in," said Smith.

During the temporary closing, Dr. Smith and her team were working remotely and had to rely on local vets for help.

Now, their doors are back open so they can help pets and their owners with whatever they need.

Kristi Anderson, Director of German Shepherd Rescue, said she's been bringing her dogs to the hospital for more than three years.

Anderson said she's "so glad that we can get our dogs brought here and get the great care that Dr. Smith gives."

The hospital expanded from 1,000 sq. ft. to 3,000 sq. ft. and they are hoping to add new things to the facility.

Dr. Smith said they are planning to offer new services, like boarding and grooming, as well as having a multi-doctor practice.
