The Detroit Tigers snapped a nine-season streak of missing the MLB Playoffs this season by transforming into arguably the best team in the Majors since Aug. 11.

Tigers ace and Cy Young Award favorite Tarik Skubal had a big hand in facilitating the Tigers' magical run, becoming one of the most respected figures in Detroit sports while leading Detroit back to professional baseball prominence.

This weekend, Skubal took to his Instagram account to share a direct message with ardent Detroit Tigers baseball fans that appeared fresh out of Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell's playbook.

Skubal shared a photo of a timeline of Detroit's resurgence in the American League Central from downtrodden also-rans to Wild Card contenders, and ultimately Wild Card winners, that called to mind a famous Detroit Lions slogan.

The timeline is emblazoned on new merchandise advertised by Skubal on his account in celebration of the Tigers' historic run.

The "Gritty" t-shirt slogan shows how much the Tigers have grown from their days in and around the cellar of the American League Central to potential World Series contenders.

The 27-year-old Hayward, California native and 6-foot-3, 240 pound pitching ace Skubal amassed an 18-4 regular season record with an ERA of 2.39, 228 strikeouts and a 0.92 WHIP.

Skubal pitched six scoreless innings against the Houston Astros in the Wild Card round, fanning six hitters while giving up just four hits and zero runs in his first MLB Playoffs start for the Tigers.
