    Minnetonka tennis team shuts out Storm in section

    Minnetonka High’s girls tennis team dominated in a Section 2AA quarterfinal match with a 7-0 victory over the Chanhassen Storm Oct. 3 on the Minnetonka courts.

    It was a beautiful day for tennis with a light breeze and partly-cloudy skies.

    Captain Ella Roberts put Minnetonka on the right path with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kegan Van Asten at first singles. The same time that match was ending, Minnetonka’s first doubles team of Martina Francisco and Ari Hook was concluding a 6-0, 6-0 win over Addie Meyers and Leah Groff.

    The highlight of the meet for Chanhassen was the performance of Lily Christensen at second singles. She pushed Tonka’s Tessa Trivedi to the limit in the first set before losing 7-5. Trivedi made a strong showing in the second set with a 6-2 advantage.

    Bella Starkman of the Skippers defeated Piper Christensen of the Storm 6-2, 6-0 at third singles. It was a similar match at fourth singles with Sofia Jalil of Tonka winning 6-0, 6-2 over Joran Hartman.

    Second doubles was a decisive point for Minnetonka with Grace Faegre and Sadhana Ramraj defeating Ryann Klett and Bryn Spletstoser 6-1, 6-2.

    At third doubles the Skipper pair of Ava Prondzinski and Allison Britzius scored a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Ava Muslof and Kendal Grant.

    Minnetonka tied Eden Prairie and Wayzata for second place in the final Lake Conference standings. Each team finished 4-2 in league matches. Edina is the Lake champion for 2024 after rolling to a 6-0 record.
