Aaron Rodgers’ Documentary Release Date Revealed On Netflix

Football fans have plenty to look forward to in December. Netflix recently confirmed the release date for Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, which follows the New York Jets quarterback as he recovers from the devastating injury that cut his previous NFL season short. If you’re curious about exactly what it takes to make a comeback, you might want to mark your calendars.

After being traded to the Jets in 2023, Rodgers only got to play four offensive snaps in his first season with the team before being diagnosed with an Achilles tendon rupture. The Netflix docuseries chronicles his recovery and promises to reveal a side of the athlete not many get to see.

What ‘Aaron Rodgers: Enigma’ Is About

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma will consist of three hour-long episodes and recount the quarterback’s comeback after tearing his Achilles. At the same time, the docuseries is set to explore his life outside the field and share intimate details about Rodgers’ career, painting a fuller picture of the four-time MVP’s story. In a first-look clip, fans can see Rodgers processing his injury in a private jet, with his leg elevated. Consequently, there’s a good chance Enigma will kick off soon after the quarterback went down and explore the athlete’s mental and emotional state, as well as tackle his road to recovery.

Best known for his 18-year tenure with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers holds records for the highest career passer rating and lowest interception percentage in NFL history. Highly regarded as one of the best NFL quarterbacks of all time, he also made headlines for his off-field controversies, notably his stance on COVID-19 vaccines.

    ‘Aaron Rodgers: Enigma’ Release Date

The highly-anticipated docuseries will premiere on Netflix on Tuesday, December 17. Given that Rodgers is already back on the field with the New York Jets, it will be interesting to rewind and reflect on the work he had to put in to get into shape following his surgery. We’re ready to bet that not all of that work was physical.

Plus, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is likely to dive deeper into the quarterback’s personal life, making it great viewing for long-time fans. As the official description of the documentary states, game-day plays and press conferences can only reveal so much. Now, NFL enthusiasts have a chance to take a rare peek behind the scenes and accompany Rodgers on his road to recovery.

The Netflix Sports Slate Keeps Expanding

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma isn’t the only sports documentary set to drop on Netflix in the near future. If you’re into baseball, The Comeback: The 2004 Red Sox will chronicle the Red Sox’s journey to their first World Series title in more than eight decades. The docuseries will premiere on October 23.

Water sports enthusiasts, on the other hand, will get unprecedented access to the world of professional polo with the help of Prince Harry and Meghan. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex take viewers to the US Open Polo Championship in Florida in a docuseries also scheduled to arrive in December 2024. Additionally, the streaming service will release a new season of a golf docuseries, Full Swing, in 2025.

As for live sports, the heavyweight fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will stream on Netflix on November 15. The two were supposed to go head-to-head back in July, but the event was postponed. Ahead of the epic clash, you can watch Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson, a three-part docuseries set in the months leading up to the live bout, that follows the contenders during training. It premieres on the streaming service on November 7, just in time to build up hype.

    Final Thoughts

All in all, it’s a great time to be into both sports and Netflix. With such a vast catalog of titles to choose from, you might want to clear your schedule. Because if you get bored with sports, there are still tons of movies and TV shows to keep you company, from binge-worthy productions like Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story to poignant movies like His Three Daughters.
