TALLAHASSEE, FL – In the leadup to Clemson’s game against Florida State, Dabo Swinney harped on the fact that if his team wants to go from being good to great, they need to go out and win on the road.

On Saturday, the Tigers did just that, knocking off the Seminoles 29-13. It was the fourth straight win for Swinney’s team after the disappointing season-opening loss to Georgia in Atlanta.

While the Tigers moved to 4-1 overall and remained unbeaten in ACC play (3-0), Swinney insists that his team still has more to accomplish if they want to be great.

“Just consistency in performance,” Swinney said. “Just keep improving. Just keep improving at all the little things that we need to get better at that we see on tape.”

While Swinney was all too pleased with his team’s ability to go on the road and come away with a win, the head coach maintained that the victory was just one more necessary step on the road to greatness. The next step will be going to Winston-Salem next weekend and beating Wake Forest (noon/ESPN).

“Again, you got to win on the road, so we have done that,” Swinney added. “Now we got to create that consistency. We got another one next week. So you got to keep rolling. There are a lot of things that we need to improve on.”

Clemson’s four-game winning streak has the Tigers up to No. 10 in the AP Poll, the team’s highest ranking of the season. While Swinney absolutely loves the effort his team has played with all season, he noted there is always room for improvement, and cleaning up some of the little things is something the Tigers will need to do in the quest for greatness.

“I always say great teams win on the road,” Swinney said. “We’re not a great team yet but we took a step forward. To be able to come on the road and win in a sound way against a team that was picked preseason Top 10.”

“We just got to keep rolling. Keep cutting down on the mistakes and cutting down on some of the breakdowns here and there. Becoming a smarter and more intelligent team. The guys are playing hard and they are playing tough. So time will tell. We just to continue to go. We have won four games. That’s it. We ain’t going to be a great team with four wins. We just got to keep going.”
