Carol Burnett achieved a new feat recently as she earned an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for her role as Aunt Norma Delacorte in Apple TV’s Palm Royale. With this recognition, Carol is the oldest female in the category, adding to her many existing accolades.

The 91-year-old was nominated alongside Liza Colón-Zayas, Hannah Einbinder, Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Meryl Streep, who is the second oldest on the list at 75. So far, Carol has snagged 7 Emmy Award wins, most of which she got in the ‘70s.

Portraying Aunt Norma was a testament to Carol’s ability to bring life into any role, as her character was in a coma for most of the beginning episodes. She joked about it being a slam dunk and said that she still got paid for those parts despite doing nothing but putting on her costume and lying down.

It did not take much convincing for Carol to be a part of the project, as she was instantly excited about the lineup of potential co-stars like Maxine Simmons, Ricky Martins and Laura Dern. She noted that working with them on the 1970s-themed film was fun, and getting recognized for her role made it even more exciting.

Does Carol Burnett have plans to retire?

Still snatching up nominations and awards in her 90s, Carol does not appear to be leaving Hollywood anytime soon as she is still in her career “for fun.” the renowned comedian rose to fame while running The Carol Burnett Show in the ‘60s and ‘70s, which earned her multiple Emmy Awards in its prime.

She then appeared in a lineup of hit movies and Broadway shows, including Moon Over Buffalo and Putting It Together, and wrote her autobiography titled One More Time: A Memoir inspired by the play Hollywood Arms. Carol’s recent roles have been in the Breaking Bad spin-off show Better Call Saul, and Palm Royale, for which she got recognized at the 76th annual Emmys.
