In most Doctor's offices, the nurses take the blood pressure wrong with the patient's feet dangling while the patient is sitting on the examination table and the arm on the side. My mother was a doctor, and I told her that my BP at my Doctor's office was high. When my Mom took my BP, it was normal. She asked me how I was positioned when my BP was taken at the Doctor's office. I told her that my feet were dangling as I was sitting on the examination table and my arm was hanging on my side. Plus, the nurse kept asking me questions while she was taking my BP. My mother said that the right position is to have the patient sit with both feet flat on the ground, and the arm should be resting on the table with the arm on the same level as the heart. Plus, the patient should remain quiet while the BP is being taken. I wonder how many people have been prescribed BP medications because their BP was taken the wrong way by the nurses.
