Kmart's Last Stand: New York Store Closure Signals Retail Giant's Demise

End of an Era: New York's Last Traditional Kmart Announces Closure

The iconic American retail chain Kmart is facing its final chapter as the last full-size store in the continental United States prepares to close its doors. Located in Bridgehampton, New York, this Long Island outlet has been a local fixture for years. However, shoppers now have until October 20 to make their final purchases before the store shutters permanently.

Liquidation sales are already underway, offering discounts of up to 40 percent off remaining merchandise. This closure marks the end of an era for the once-ubiquitous big-box retailer that dotted the American landscape.

With the Bridgehampton location's imminent closure, only one Kmart will remain in the United States – a smaller, convenience store-style outlet in Miami. This final vestige of the Kmart empire offers basic necessities but lacks the expansive floor space and diverse inventory that once defined the brand.
