Take a look at our full Frostpunk 2 walkthrough overview to find the correct one!<h2>Chapter 5 Walkthrough - The Choice</h2>Frostpunk 2 Chapter 5 begins with a murder. A member of a hostile faction assassinated a member of another faction, tensions have risen to a boiling point, and it’s up to you to prevent civil war. You’ll be given three options: banish the hostile faction, try to reconcile the factions, or enforce order. The objectives in the final Chapter will differ depending on how you choose to deal with the murder. In short, here’s what each option entails: <ul><li>Banish a faction: you will eliminate the threat by relocating the members of the hostile faction to a new colony. If you create a colony worth living in, the faction may leave willingly, but if not, you must use guards to deport the faction by force.</li><li>Seek reconciliation: become a mediator and negotiate for peace. You’ll have to pass many laws to keep everyone happy.</li><li>Enforce order: strengthen your rule and become Captain - all factions will have to do as you say.</li></ul>Beware that this choice is final, so if you choose to seek reconciliation, you can’t banish a faction as a backup plan. It’s probably best to go for banishment if the hostile faction is a small minority and you have plenty of guards and resources. Reconciliation may work better if you’ve used a more balanced policy throughout your gameplay, your factions aren’t at each other’s throats, and you didn’t implement any radical ideas. Enforcing order requires a strong hold over your citizens, so it’s best to choose it only if you have a high trust level or many guards under your command. <h2>Chapter 5 Walkthrough - Banishment</h2>To banish a faction, you’ll need a new colony. Luckily, there’s a suitable place called Windward Moor just south of New London, in the IEC Valley area. If you haven’t explored these Frostlands yet, do so first. Although you can already give the hostile faction control over the new colony, don’t be too hasty: this will cut off their connection with New London, and if some hostile faction members remain in New London, they’ll refuse to leave. It’s only a good idea to cut off Windward Moor early if you have enough prisons and guards to capture and force the remaining hostiles out, or if the group is small enough to be severely affected by ‘condemning’ them (this will cause members to leave). If you’d rather provide them with a proper home, start building Districts and stockpiles in Windward Moor. When the colony is up and running, click on the colony’s icon in the upper right corner and hand over the reigns. <h2>Chapter 5 Walkthrough - Reconciliation</h2>After choosing reconciliation, click on the warring factions and select the ‘negotiation’ option to see what they want. For each faction, you have to choose a topic to work on, such as ‘medical innovation’. After picking a topic, the faction will present three requests, two of which you must fulfill. For example, you may be asked to build a hospital or pass a law against experimental treatments. Meanwhile, click on the war-torn Districts (the ones with the red icons, see picture below) and select the ‘protect’ option to minimize casualties. Fulfilling one wish for each faction is likely enough to stop them from fighting, so try to work on one wish per faction simultaneously. When all wishes are fulfilled, you must pass the Peace Accords in the Council to win the game. Beware that the Peace Accords require a two-thirds majority, which you aren’t guaranteed to get even if you complete the factions’ requests. If the ‘for’ vote is very close to 66% and the ‘hesitant’ group outnumbers the ‘against’ group, you can probably take the gamble. Otherwise, keep negotiating with the factions to secure the outcome of the vote - since this is the final part of the game, you can promise anyone anything, and you don’t need to deliver on that promise anymore. <h2>Chapter 5 Walkthrough - Enforce Order</h2>To become the almighty ruler of New London, you must either pass the Captain’s Authority law or bypass the legal route by declaring yourself Captain. The Captain’s Authority law requires a two-thirds favorable vote in the Council, so this is a great option if you have a very high trust level. You can negotiate with your factions and promise them things to obtain their vote. If you have at least 200 guards, which you can obtain by building watchtowers and using the Stalwarts’ special ‘mobilize enforcers’ ability, you can click on the Central district and declare yourself Captain. Next, you have to wait four weeks for your rule to be secured. You can pass new laws and research if you wish, but you may also fast-forward time. Once the four weeks have passed, you must choose whether to separate one or both factions from the rest of society. The process is the same regardless of your choice though; open the District-building menu and create a Faction Enclave at the edge of town, then build a watchtower to contain them.
