    Royals pile up wins on the pitch

    The Watertown-Mayer boys soccer team went 2-1 last week to move to 7-5-1 on the season. The Royals defeated Spectrum 6-2 and Hutchinson/Glencoe-Silver Lake 4-0 before a 3-1 loss to Cambridge-Isanti.

    Brayden Eggiman and Micah Schmidt both scored twice against Spectrum, while Roland Platzer and Payton Stanley also found the back of the net. Rowan Wetterlund had two assists, while Stanley and Lonne Gilbert each had one. Luke Jewison had five saves.

    Girls soccer

    The No. 2 ranked Watertown-Mayer girls soccer team went 3-0 last week to move to 12-0-2 on the season, defeating Willmar 9-0, Hutchinson/Glencoe-Silver Lake 8-1 and Minnehaha Academy 3-0.

    Ainsley Blair scored four goals against Willmar, Ellie Lommel and Kaylee Eggiman both scored twice and Eleanor Rundell scored once. Eggiman had two assists, while Rundell and Lillyana Cradick both had one. Lauren Grimm had two saves to earn the clean sheet.

    Against Hutchinson/GSL, Blair and Rundell both scored twice, while Lommel, Cradick and Julia Salzsiedler each scored once. Salzsiedler had two assists, while Blair, Alice Gersema and Emma Johnson each had one. Grimm had four saves.
