TUCSON - The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Hispanic Market Outlook on Sept. 24, welcoming 350 guests for a deep dive into the growing influence and economic impact of the Hispanic community both locally and nationally, according to Pima County.

The event highlighted key data on population trends, purchasing power, and the critical role the Hispanic community plays in driving growth and innovation.

Among the most notable insights was that Hispanics are the fastest-growing population in the United States, representing 60% of the total population growth in the Tucson area between 2010 and 2020.

This data, presented during the event, underscored the importance of engaging with the Hispanic community as its influence on markets, industries, and culture continues to grow, according to the county.

Another significant takeaway revealed the U.S. Hispanic population's purchasing power has surged to $3.2 trillion—now comparable to the GDP of countries like the United Kingdom, France, and Italy.

Andrew Deschappelles, president and general manager of Telemundo Tucson, presented an in-depth analysis of how these trends are shaping the future of business and economic development, the department stated.

The event also featured a special presentation by Ana Ramírez González, a contributing Pixar illustrator known for her work on films such as Coco, Toy Story 4, Turning Red, Soul, and Elemental.

González shared her journey as an artist, emphasizing how her Hispanic heritage has influenced her creative work. Her story resonated with the audience, adding a personal and cultural layer to the data-driven event.

The 2024 Hispanic Market Outlook served as a powerful reminder of the growing influence of the Hispanic market.

Chamber officials look forward to continuing these important conversations as they work to shape the future of Southern Arizona and beyond, the department says.
