'Damn Near Like Having a Part-Time Job': DDG After Halle Bailey Split

In a surprising turn of events, singer Halle Bailey and YouTuber-turned-rapper DDG have decided to part ways, according to PEOPLE Magazine. The two began dating in January 2022, and share one child, Halo, after Bailey announced she had given birth in January 2024.

Fans of Bailey have long expressed concerns over whether DDG was the right match for her, with speculation arising from past controversies. In February 2023, DDG's ex-girlfriend, Rubi Rose, claimed that he had slid into her DMs, an accusation he initially denied. However, when Rose shared proof along with a message stating, "This is why I'm single," DDG later admitted to sending the messages, attributing it to being "petty" after a disagreement with Bailey.

The recent breakup was confirmed by DDG in an Instagram post, where he expressed his fondness for the time spent with Bailey, stating, "I cherish the time we've spent together, and the love we've shared. Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true."

Following the announcement, DDG was asked about the breakup during an interview, where he drew an unexpected comparison between his relationship with Bailey and a job. He reflected on the effort required to maintain a relationship, saying, “You gotta always consider their feelings, so it’s like you can’t really work how you wanna work. If I can tell myself something at age 22, I would tell myself not to get into a relationship because it’s d*mn near like having a part-time job. You really have to apply a lot of time and effort.” He added, "Bro, just grind it out and let a relationship happen. But only happen when you feel comfortable within yourself as a man."

As of now, Bailey has not publicly commented on the split, but days before DDG announced the split, Bailey was caught on camera at an Usher concert. In the short clip, Usher tried feeding Bailey a cherry; however, DDG took the cherry from Usher's hand and fed it to her instead.
