Mail-in ballots are on their way to voters, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters announced Monday morning.

“I did receive my notice this morning via email,” said local resident Cindy Lehy.

Residents like Lehy are expecting their ballots to arrive in the mail anytime now. That’s because Monday was the last day counties can begin mailing out vote-by-mail ballots for the upcoming general election.

Every active registered voter in the state receives one.

Democratic Congressional nominee Will Rollins said it’s important for everyone to vote.

“If you care about the freedom to vote in this country… you got to vote because we got under 30 days and this is one of the most important congressional races in the entire country,” Rollins said.

He adds more than just deciding the next president, residents will have a say in addressing local issues that affect them — such as housing.

“We all know if you live in Southern California, it’s hard to pay your rent, it’s hard to pay your mortgage,” Rollins said.

    And making voting more accessible.

“It's just a huge challenge to get young people to a place where they feel they can actually win elected office,” Rollins said.

You can return your ballot by mail or at any ballot drop-off location in the county. And that’s exactly what Lehy will be doing this November.

“My go-to is the mail-in, get it, fill it out at home, and take it down and join all the other people,” Lehy said.

Local Republican Congressman Ken Calvert's campaign, also urged voters to take to the polls.

“There absolutely couldn’t be more at stake in this election. Our choices are Will Rollins, whose radical energy policies would raise gas prices nearly 90 cents a gallon, open our border and bring the worst of Sacramento’s failed policies to Washington..."
