The Benilde-St. Margaret’s football team fell to 2-4 on the season after the Holy Angels spoiled its Homecoming 21-14 for the St. Louis Park school under sunshine and pristine conditions Saturday afternoon.

Holy Angels continued to churn out the yards on the ground, averaging nearly eight yards per carry. Emmett Anderson led the Stars with 237 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns, including the tying score in the fourth quarter, which made it 14-14. Quarterback Damian Devine put the visitors ahead on a 2-yard touchdown, 21-14.

The Red Knights took a 14-7 early into the third quarter as reigning Skyway Yellow Subdistrict Receiver of the Year Khalif Brown ran for a 12-yard touchdown.

BSM’s Sean Washington opened the scoring on a 5-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Anderson’s first touchdown came in the second quarter on a 60-yard run to enter halftime tied at 7-7.

BSM came into the Homecoming game off a 17-7 win over SMB (St. Paul Academy/Minnehaha Academy/Blake) on Sept. 27.

A 29-yard Will Gadtke field goal was the only point on the board for the Red Knights in the first half, trailing 7-3 at Blake School.

BSM junior Javion Kellogg ran for a pair of second-half touchdowns, finishing with 40 yards on seven carries. Washington led the offense with 18 carries for 97 yards, as the Red Knights rushed for 237 yards on 51 carries. Quarterback Lucas Guggenberger completed his lone pass – a 28-yard completion to Christian Johnson. Guggenberger added five carries for 24 yards. Will Seymour and Brown ran 11 times for 39 yards and 6 times for 29 yards, respectively.

The Red Knights travel to Delano (1-5) on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Tigers are coming off their first win of the season, a 35-31 win at Mound Westonka on Oct. 4.

BSM will host Mound Westonka in the regular season finale on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
