October has not been kind to Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Mookie Betts over the last few years.

Betts has gone hitless in his last 22 postseason at-bats dating back to Game 3 of the 2022 NLDS against the same San Diego Padres. Betts does have three walks through two games of this year’s NLDS but remains 0-for-6 from the plate.

The 2018 AL MVP took “three or four hundred” practice swings Monday at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. ahead of their Game 3 matchup scheduled for Tuesday. Betts spoke to reporters about his slump following his workout.

“There’s no way to get away from it,” said Betts via The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya. “The whole world knows. It’s not like it’s a secret. I know. Nobody’s telling me anything I don’t know already. Nobody can be any harder on myself. Only thing I can really do is look forward but I know it’s there.

“I’m a human. I’m living it. Nobody’s telling me anything I haven’t already seen and know. I’m trying, man. That’s all I can say.”

Nothing encapsulated Betts’ struggles more than getting robbed of what looked like a certain home run in his first at-bat of Game 2.

With two World Series rings in his trophy cabinet, Betts has far and away proven he can come up big in October. But over the Dodgers’ last four postseason series, Betts has gone 6-for-54 for a .111 batting average with just two extra-base hits and two RBIs.
