Liberty keeps marching along.
Since the start of 2023 it hasn’t lost a regular season game on its 17-1 run through the college football world.
Now is the chance on Tuesday night national TV to make a bit of a statement, partly because it won’t see a whole lot of the spotlight the rest of the way.
FIU has been quirky - and with the association with Pitbull, fun. It was good enough to obliterate Central Michigan, but lost to Monmouth. With the win over Louisiana Tech, though, it’s 1-0 in conference play.
The passing game has to keep up. Either that, or the D has to generate the six takeaways it came up with in the win over Central Michigan.
The defense hasn’t been bad on third downs, and it’s an active group that hasn’t been too bad against the run at times, but it’s up to QB Keyone Jenkins to be great.
The Panthers have averaged over 275 passing yards per game over the last three, and Jenkins has been a bit more careful with the ball.

The balance of the Flame offense is fantastic.
It hasn’t played anyone great, but it’s had plenty of practice to tune-up. Now, this isn’t the dominant offensive fun show of last season, but 961 passing yards, 866 rushing, and FIU’s defense will have a hard time stopping any and all of it.
Yes, the FIU D has been good at times against the run, but it was hit for 179 yards or more in each of the first four games. That’s why …

Liberty will be too good at keeping the attack moving, the downfield plays will be there, and there won’t be enough pressure from the FIU defensive front to slow it all down.
However, FIU’s offense will come up with just enough points to keep this from getting too ugly.
