There isn't much going on, aside from a fresh save point directly across the street. You can find a box of handgun bullets on a nearby park bench, though. Walk down the alley away from Bluecreek. Eventually you'll run into the little girl from Wood Side. It won't result in a productive conversation, but you do get some new information. Afterward, the usual series of barricades and locked doors will leave you with nowhere else to go but Rosewater Park. If you're low on resources after that last fight, check the seating area left of the entrance to find a loose syringe on a bench (it's probably fine). There are also a couple of stray boxes of handgun bullets lying around the park if you run a quick sweep. There are several different monuments to Silent Hill history scattered around Rosewater Park. Most of them are only here to add texture, but one will become relevant later in the game. It's roughly in the center of the boardwalk, next to the concession stand, and memorializes the people lost in some long-gone plague. Make a note of it. When you're ready to move on, go to the boardwalk and walk to the end of its pier to meet somebody new. Sort of. Meeting Maria for the first time unlocks the Uncanny trophy/achievement. Once you've made Maria's acquaintance, a previously locked gate on the boardwalk will mysteriously open, which lets you enter the west half of the park. She'll follow behind you for the next stretch of the game to offer color commentary. There are a few more items to find on this side of Rosewater, like a box of bullets on the chessboards. The big find is a Strange Photo, which can be found in one of the seating areas that's built into the exterior hedges. As you leave the boardwalk with Maria, hang a right and you should see it immediately. As you exit the park, you'll end up on Nathan Avenue. According to Maria, your next destination is to the south, which requires you to cut through the lot of the nearby Jacks Inn. At this point, you have a choice to make. You can go west to explore Nathan Avenue, or go straight to the Jacks Inn. Ending Discussion: There's Something About MariaThis section contains mild spoilers about SH2R's potential endings. Skip down to the next section if you don't want to hear about it.You might've just met Maria, but as fans of the original game can tell you, your relationship with her counts for a lot. Heading down Nathan Avenue with her can have a significant impact on that relationship, which in turn influences what ending you get. On the positive side, this is a chance to spend extra time with her, and Maria has a few interesting things to say about various locations on Nathan Ave. It's worth making this run with her at least once. On the negative side, Nathan Avenue's got its share of dangers, including one of the nastier ambushes in the game. While enemies usually ignore Maria, it's easy for her to catch some stray hits in a pitched battle, and a Lying Figure might still try to grab her if it gets close enough. It doesn't seem like Maria can actually die from incoming damage, but it'll tank your relationship with her. If you're trying to build points with Maria, it might be safer to go straight to Jacks Inn.Rock On Through Nathan AvenueYou can find a lot of health and ammunition if you opt to explore west down Nathan Avenue, as well as several collectibles. Unlike most other places in SH2R, you'll get another chance to pick most of these up, but it's much easier to find it all while you've still got daylight. If you don't want to bother with it now, skip down to the next section. While you're working your way down the street, be sure to smash every stray window you see in search of ammo and health. This will startle Maria the first couple of times, but she gets used to it. Here are the crucial locations to check out on Nathan: Pete's Bowl-O-RamaThe local bowling alley, found at the corner of Carroll and Nathan, is wide open and completely deserted. There's a save point inside, as well as some health and ammunition scattered throughout the building. The real reason to stop by is the open pizza box on one of the countertops by the lanes. Inspect it to get credit for a glimpse of the past, as well as the hidden trophy/achievement Leftovers. Now At a New LocationA second glimpse of the past can be found at the building just south of Pete's, at the top of the short set of utility stairs. Inspect the door to get a glimpse of the past, which will also affect Maria. This seems like a really random place to stick a collectible, but this was a significant location in the original version of SH2. He Almost Made ItGo all the way to the west end of Nathan Avenue until you hit another chasm. There's a dead guy here with a note and a box of handgun bullets. Slaughter at the Service StationVisit Octantis Fuels at the east corner of Carroll and Nathan. Both the station and the garage are inaccessible, but there are a lot of items to be found by breaking into all the parked cars. The real reason to come here is to take the Garage Jack Handle from a car in the back lot. This triggers an attack by a Mannequin and several Lying Figures, who abruptly appear all around you. It's a good idea to run away at this point, or at least reposition yourself so you and Maria don't get surrounded. You can now take your new Jack Handle back to the building just south of Rosewater Park, which isn't labeled on your map. The Handle can be used to open the garage door on the back of the building. Inside, you can find a couple of boxes of handgun bullets, a syringe, and a Strange Photo, which is on one of the toolboxes by the car lifts. <h2>The No-Tell Motel Hell</h2>To continue with the game's main storyline, head to Jacks Inn. Maria's plan to cut through the property will hit a snag when you discover the back gate is locked. Go to the reception desk to find a note on the bulletin board about the potential location of that gate's key, as well as a safe under the counter. Most of the rooms at the inn are locked tight. There's a box of bullets and a health drink in 106, but being there unnerves James. Room 107 is barricaded, but 108 next door has a nice big window. Smash it and hop through, then bust through the wall to reach 107. Here, you'll find another note on the desk. This provides you with the only hint you'll get for the combination for the reception desk safe. When you go back to Room 107, Maria will have selected an outfit from the closet. You can talk to her about it or move on, as you prefer. Either way, head back to the reception desk. Puzzle: Jacks Inn Reception SafeThe Toolbox Note always contains a clue to the safe's combination, rather than the combination itself. Light: "No money four the fifth onesie." This translates to 0451, which is a nice nod to the old Looking Glass Studios code. Standard: The Toolbox Memo has a different riddle on it: <ul><li>One - one less</li></ul><ul><li>Three - one more</li></ul><ul><li>Eight - three less</li></ul><ul><li>Zero - one more</li></ul>This might look complicated and/or metaphorical, but it's just a weird way to express basic arithmetic. The solution is, again, 0451. Hard: There's a full paragraph of text on the Toolbox Memo on Hard, but all the important words in it are in all caps. This translates to a longer equation: the [total number of rooms at Jacks Inn = 8] multiplied by [the rooms on its second floor = 2], multiplied by 33, plus 5. That only results in 3 digits, but if you add a zero up front, the code will work. The solution is 0533. Open the safe to get the Gate Key. Hidden FiguresTaking the Gate Key triggers an ambush by a Mannequin, which bursts out of the supply closet next to reception and automatically grabs Maria. One bullet to any part of the Mannequin will kill it and save her. As Maria thanks you, check the supply closet for a health drink. Use the Gate Key to open the hotel's rear exit, which puts you on Munson St. Turn left as you leave to find handgun bullets on a park bench. You can also cross the street to find the Baldwin Mansion, which has another box of bullets on a table outside. The Mansion itself is inaccessible, but itunnerves Maria for some reason. The rest of Munson is blocked off by sinkholes, so head west on Katz. Check each house's porch as you go for ammunition or health drinks. Eventually, you'll hit another chasm, which triggers a cinematic. When it's over, you'll have taken shelter in an alley. James will automatically exchange his wooden plank for a steel pipe, which is a straight upgrade and your new best friend for the rest of the game. You'll soon have plenty of chances to use it. Another wind has picked up and you're suddenly being chased by Lying Figures. Kill as many as you like; more will show up from various dark corners. All you can do is run south.There are a couple of different paths through this block, but they all lead to the same place in the end. There are some items to be found if you take the time to explore, but you'll be under constant threat and there are a couple of Mannequins lurking inside open buildings. It's easier to simply run for it. When you reach the backyard with the ping-pong table, Maria will yell about an escape route. She's referring to the gap in the nearby fence, which is helpfully indicated by a working overhead light. Go over there and pull the boards open for Maria. This ends the chase sequence. In the ClubYour escape route has led you to the lot behind Heaven's Night. Maria will open its back door for you, then briefly disappear. In the kitchen, check the first-aid kit to James' left for a syringe. The dressing room is directly ahead of you, where you'll find a box of handgun bullets and a Strange Photo taped to the makeup mirror. Grab those, then head out through the backstage area. You can find more handgun bullets in one of the lockers and a health drink in a medicine cabinet in a dark corner of the room. When you enter the purple-lit doorway, you'll trigger a long cinematic. There isn't much else to see in Heaven's Night. You can examine the posters, the lost &amp; found box behind the bar, and the bottle Maria used, but none of them seem to do anything. When you're ready to leave, talk to Maria. The front door lets you out onto another back lot, where you can't do much besides head north onto Katz St. Cross the street to Moonlight Grove, another romantic little park. Once you're inside, James slows down to a walk so you can follow Maria. This eventually triggers another cinematic, which ends when you hear a little girl screaming from nearby. Afterwards, don't leave Moonlight Grove right away. You can turn left after the cinematic to find a small seating area nearby, with a health drink on one of the benches and a Strange Photo on the edge of the fountain. Next stop: Reverie Theater. Your only way in is to use the high window in the back. Maria will opt to stay behind. You'll land in the theater's back room. If you look through the viewport in the wall, you can eavesdrop on a short conversation between Eddie and the little girl. However, if you opt to push the nearby bookcase away from the exit door, James will knock over some debris, which ends their conversation early. Either way, that door lets you into the lobby. If you look around, you can find two boxes of handgun ammo in the restrooms; one's in a closed stall in the women's room, while the other's on the sink in the men's. Enter the theater to speak with Eddie, who'll tell James that the girl's name is Laura. Eddie is too busy with his popcorn to be of any particular help, but you'll soon spot Laura heading into the next theater. Before you follow her, check a few rows behind Eddie to find another Strange Photo on one of the seats. From here, it's just a chase scene: use the side door to reach the next theater, then go up the stairs and out to find the stairwell. This will take you to the projection area, where you can hop over a short wall and squeeze through a gap in the storage shelves to pursue Laura. In the second booth, jump a second wall, then leave and go downstairs. There are a few drawers you can open along the way, but they're all empty. You'll end up back in the lobby, right in time to see Laura run out through one of the formerly barricaded front doors. Go outside to reunite with Maria, then chase Laura west to Carroll Street. There isn't much on Carroll St. besides Brookhaven Hospital. You can search the immediate vicinity for a few items, such as a syringe in a first-aid kit on one of the benches right outside, but eventually there'll be nothing to do but pursue Laura into Brookhaven. You'll receive the trophy/achievement Admitted. Time to explore an abandoned hospital in a creepy town full of monsters. What could go wrong? Let's find out. </div></body>
