West Ham teenage summer signing Luis Guilherme has reacted to making his Premier League debut.

The winger joined West Ham from Palmeiras for £25million in June and came off the bench in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Ipswich Town for his first exposure to English top-flight football.

The Brazilian came on four minutes from time, replacing Mohammed Kudus who had scored the second of the Hammers’ four goals at the London Stadium as they earned their second league win of the season to ease the pressure on new manager Julen Lopetegui.

“I’m delighted to have made my debut,” Guillerme said. “It’s a dream come true to have played in the Premier League at 18 years old. I have to thank God and my family for the opportunity to have fulfilled my dream.

There will be plenty of more good things to come

“Now it’s about taking things step by step, and by continuing the hard work I’ve been putting in there will be plenty of more good things to come.”

The Brazil Under-20 international explained that his Brazilian team-mates have helped him ease into life at West Ham. Lucas Paqueta has 52 caps for Brazil, while Italy international Emerson was born in Sao Paulo and represented Brazil at Under-17 level before switching allegiances.

“Lucas and Emi have given me a lot,” he explained. “They are great players, and I’m proud to say they’re good friends too.

“They’ve helped me so much since I arrived, and I’ve had the pleasure to have gotten to know them quite well. I thank them for their support, and hopefully, bit by bit, I can give back to the team.”
