ESPN anchor Hannah Storm will be the 2025 recipient of the Pat Summerall Award, an award presented annually to “a national broadcaster or prominent sports personality who has had an outstanding career while making a significant impact in their community.”

Storm certainly fits the bill as a noted advocate for children suffering from vascular anomalies. She founded the Hannah Storm Foundation in 2008 to help raise awareness, provide funding, and educate children and their families about the health condition that Storm herself was born with.

The SportsCenter anchor hasn’t limited her advocacy to vascular anomalies, however. Storm revealed earlier this year that she has been diagnosed with breast cance r and is expecting a full recovery thanks to early detection at her yearly mammogram. In sharing her experience, she sought to encourage other women to receive annual mammograms, saying on Good Morning America earlier this year, “Don’t be afraid to have a mammogram — be afraid not to. Be afraid of what you don’t know.”

The 17-year ESPN veteran has also been an advocate for burn victims in recent years, having sustained second-degree burns following a propane grill accident at her home in 2012. Notably, Storm interviewed Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku on Sunday NFL Countdown following his burn incident last season.

Storm is the second woman ever to win the Pat Summerall Award.

Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews was the first female recipient in 2022.

The Pat Summerall Award, named after the legendary sportscaster, is presented at a charity dinner every year in the week leading up to the Super Bowl. The dinner raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year’s ceremony will occur on the Thursday of Super Bowl week in the host city of New Orleans.

Storm took to social media on Monday to share her thoughts on receiving the prestigious award in a post, “I’m so honored to be this year’s recipient of the Pat Summerall Award at the Super Bowl in New Orleans. It’s so meaningful because this award celebrates not only outstanding career work but also impactful community work.”

Given her long history of advocacy and storied career as a journalist, it’s no surprise that Storm will receive one of sports media’s highest honors next year.
