Nagel residents enjoy, paint fall colors on cruise

A simple ask on a community Facebook page two years ago has prompted an ongoing tradition between Your Boat Club and Nagel Assisted Living & Memory Care in Waconia.

The question was, “Wondering if anyone knows how we can get some of our residents out on the lake?” Your Boat Club got word of the post and hosted multiple group fishing trips and the annual fall colors excursions for residents at Nagel.

The boat trips are part of a larger mission and program at Your Boat Club (YBC) called Float It Forward. Created in 2019, Float it Forward was designed to celebrate YBC’s ten years of serving local communities while providing unique and complimentary “on the water” ventures for deserving organizations and individuals, especially those with physical or financial barriers to the boating experience.

Nagel Assisted Living & Memory Care was founded in 2017 and is housed in the former Nagel Hospital, opened in 1940 by Dr. Harold D. Nagle, a prominent local physician.
