Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Young played for the Miami Hurricanes . In 2024, Young has played in all five games for Georgia this season, amassing 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

Young scored a touchdown during his first two games for the program after transferring, helping the Bulldogs defeat Clemson in their season-opener, catching the team’s first touchdown of the year.

Before taking his talents to Athens, the wide receiver spent two seasons at Miami, and he also played one season at Lackawanna College in New York. He totaled 79 receptions for 930 yards and 10 touchdowns in 22 games for the Hurricanes, finishing third on the team in receptions (47) and receiving yards (563) as well as tied for second in receiving touchdowns (5) in 2023.

The news regarding Young comes after fellow wide receiver Rara Thomas was also dismissed from the program earlier this summer. He was arrested on two misdemeanor battery charges and one felony cruelty to children charge while at Georgia, and a misdemeanor count of family violence and a felony account of false imprisonment at Mississippi State, prior to joining the Bulldogs.

Now, Kirby Smart and the Georgia program will be awaiting more information to come out on the matter, and it remains to be seen whether Colbie Young will play another snap for the Bulldogs in 2024. One thing is for sure, the program certainly would like to squash any legal trouble with the team, as it’s plagued them over the last couple of years, amid their success.
