Pumpkin pickers looking for a change of scenery can make a day trip out of it and head to the mountains of New Mexico.

Sure, the local supermarkets have them and I get the whole convenience thing, but where’s the fun in that?

Nichols Ranch and Orchards offers Boderland families the opportunity to hit the road and get into the spirit of the season at the family-run farm located in the Sacramento Mountains about 20 minutes from Alamogordo.

The Pumpkin Patch at Nichols Ranch

Whether the plan is to decorate, carve, or use the gourds as front door décor, the Pumpkin Patch at Nichols Ranch is a fun excuse to get out of town for the day, enjoy the mountain views, and let the kids run around and blow off some of their abundant energy in fresh mountain air.

And, of course, pick out a few pumpkins.
