CHISHOLM — The Chisholm High School volleyball team did just enough on Monday night against Mountain Iron-Buhl and was able to come away with a 3-0 win by scores of 25-21, 25-16, 25-23.

“We had way too many errors tonight,” Bluestreaks Head Coach Pam Pioske said. “Games one and three were not good ones for us.”

On the other end, Rangers Head Coach Jessica Trunnell also found faults in her squad.

“We miss-hit 12 serves in the match,” Trunnell said. “In a close match, you just can’t do that.”

Game one saw the Bluestreaks jump out to an early 8-5 lead on the strength of a Jezirae Flack Kill and a Zoe Plombon Kill.

The Rangers took their first time out and following the break, they traded a couple of points with the Cluestreaks and then a Tip from Ava Kuukkonen at the net made it a one point contest, 12-11.

The teams then traded points with neither team getting a big lead until Paisley Schmitz collected an Ace Serve to give Chisholm a 21-18 lead.

The Rangers got within two points but Anaya Fontaine collected a pair of Ace Serves to give Chisholm the game victory, 25-21.

MIB grabbed an early lead in game two with Aniyah Thomas back on the service line.

The Junior collected an Ace Serve ti give the Rangers a 3-0 lead.

An Ashley Panichi Kill stopped the Rangers scoring run.

Panichi while in the front row then came up with a pair of back to-back Blocks at the net that gave the Bluestreaks a 4-3 lead.

That would be a lead the Chisholm would not give up in the rest of the second game.

Panichi picked up a Kill at the Net while Rylee Aultman came up with a Kill of her own.

Chisholm was able to open up their lead when Flack was in the front row.

The Sophomore collected a pair of Kill’s and a Tip and all of a sudden the Bluestreaks lead was 11-6.

That forced Trunnell to take one of her time outs.

A Temple Kill following the time out made it a six point Chisholm lead.

A service error stopped the scoring run and gave the serve to MIB.

The Rangers were only able to pick up one point before the serve was given back to Chisholm after a Mountain Iron-Buhl service error.

The Bluestreaks opened up their lead when Audrina LaBarge and Isabel MacMillian were at the net.

Kills from them and add one from Hennessy Temple and all of a sudden the Chisholm lead was 19-13.

LaBarage added to the lead with an Ace Serve and with the game at 24-16, Mountain Iron-Buhl was caught in the net and the game was given to the Bluestreaks.

“That was definitely a better game for us,” Pioske said. “We did everything better and it paid off on the scoreboard.”

Game three saw Chisholm race out to a 9-5 lead with a Panichi Kill leading the way.

But the Rangers were not going to just go away quietly.

They picked up three quick points to make it a one point game.

Then Chisholm was called for four-hits and all of a sudden it was a 10-10 contest.

A Panchi Kill gave Chisholm a 11-10 lead, but two quick points for the Rangers with Nevaeh Locken serving, gave the Rangers a 12-11 lead and forced Pioske to take one of her time outs.

Following the time out, a Anna Holmstrom Tip at the net gave the Rangers a two point lead.

The teams then traded points until Chisholm tied the game at 14-14 and took the lead after a Plombon Tip gave them a 15-14 lead.

The Rangers were caught in the net and another Plombon Kill made it a 17-14 Chisholm lead.

Mountain Iron-Buhl fought back and cut the Bluestreaks lead to 21-19.

    They were not done yet.

Locken came up with a big Ace Serve and the Chisholm lead was down to 22-21.

A Panichi Tip gave Chisholm a 23-21 lead with time running out on the Rangers.

But following a Trunnell time out, the Bluestreaks were called for a double hit and a Farrah Thomas Tip at the net tied the score at 23-23.

“I was proud of the way we battled out there,” Trunnell said. “We did do some good things but we still have things to work on.”

Chisholm picked up a point to get within one point of the match and a Plombon Kill at the net put the match away for Chisholm.

“It was a win,” Pioske said. “I was able to get everybody out there to get some playing time, but we still have a lot of things to work on.”

Panichi led the Bluestreaks with 10 Kills, while Plombon added six.

Fontaine collected four Ace Serves and Temple had 29 Set Assists.

Chisholm will travel to face Hill City/Northland on Thursday.

Locken led the Rangers with seven Kills and four Blocks.

Thomas and Holmstrom each added eight set assists.

The Rangers will host Silver Bay on Friday.

    Proctor 3,

    Mesabi East 1

PROCTOR — The Mesabi East volleyball team dug for a win in the second set but that’s as good as things got for the Giants as they fell to Proctor 3-1 (25-10, 26-28, 25-14, 25-16).
