The Greenville Police Department on Monday charged a woman with shooting her boyfriend at a convenience, the agency said.

Officers responded about 9:30 p.m. to a ShotSpotter activation at the H&K Mart, 1000 W. Fifth St., where they found Kentraye Barnes, 32, suffering a gunshot wound to the arm. Police said the wound was not life threatening.

An investigation and review of nearby cameras led police to determine the shooting occurred as a result of a physical fight between Barnes and his girlfriend, Martevia Green, 32, in the convenience store's parking lot.

Green was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a weopon from a motor vehicle to incite fear. She was taken before a Pitt County Magistrate and given an unsecured bond.

Police believe that Barnes started the fight and as such charged him with misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. The department said that detectives will consult with the Pitt County District Attorney's Office to determine whether additional charges are applicable.
