Jurors report for Madigan corruption trial

Potential jurors have reported to federal court in Chicago for the upcoming corruption trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and co-defendant Michael McClain. Madigan is facing 23 counts of bribery, racketeering and official misconduct. Jurors were instructed to fill out questionnaires on Tuesday morning. Attorneys are scheduled to report to court this afternoon to discuss any pretrial issues, but Madigan is not required to appear. The trial is expected to last about ten weeks.

Embattled mayor shows up hour late to board meeting

Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard showed up an hour late to Monday’s village board meeting, announced that she vetoed everything the board voted on, and then left minutes later. According to the Village of Dolton’s attorney, Henyard’s veto isn’t possible because her motion was not written before she left. The meeting was moved to the local park district facilities after Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s Office found that Dolton violated the state’s Open Meetings Act on several occasions by not providing adequate access at previous meetings.

The lawsuit stems from a bipartisan nationwide investigation announced by Raoul in 2022. Illinois’ action seeks injunctive relief to address TikTok’s misconduct as well as monetary penalties. In addition to Illinois’ lawsuit, 13 other states filed separate enforcement actions against TikTok for violations of state consumer protection laws.

Like putting Al Capone on trial. Payoffs and boby dumps or a pardon from brother Biden at his 11th hour. A pardon is what I'd be going for if I was his attorney team.
