Dodgers, Braves could get in bidding war for projected $188 million star

The Los Angeles Dodgers are built to contend not only this season but for the foreseeable future.

Los Angeles has plenty of talent at the big league level and a solid farm system that should help the Dodgers out for years to come. There isn't a better situation right now in baseball than the Dodgers.

While this is the case, even they could use an upgrade. Los Angeles has had question marks at shortstop and already has been linked to a handful of options to help fix that this winter in free agency.

FanSided's Robert Murray called the Dodgers an "obvious" fit for Milwaukee Brewers star Willy Adames but also mentioned the Atlanta Braves as a landing spot option.

"The fit between Adames and the Dodgers is obvious," Murray said. "Los Angeles lacks a long-term shortstop and, despite a record-setting spending spree last offseason, should have money to spend this winter because of how Shohei Ohtani structured his 10-year, $700 million contract. Adames has history with Dodgers executive Andrew Friedman from their time with the Tampa Bay Rays. Friedman has also tried to trade for Adames in recent years, with the Brewers deciding to hold onto the shortstop instead...

"The bidding for Adames will extend beyond the Dodgers, Braves, and Brewers, with the San Francisco Giants getting mentioned as a potential suitor. Where he signs remains a mystery, but it’s clear that the Dodgers and Braves will be heavily involved – and their presence in his free agency means that Adames’ time in Milwaukee is all but over."

It's not surprising that Adames will have many suitors. He clubbed 32 home runs this season and is just 29 years old. He's projected to get $188 million over seven years, but a bidding war could drive this price up even higher.
