Legal Sea Foods, a Boston-based chain of seafood eateries, was investigating an incident involving a beverage that was possibly ‘tampered with’ after a customer complained on social media.

The company posted a statement on Instagram on Oct. 7, stating that management was made aware of the complaint Sunday.

“On Sunday, Oct. 6, we were made aware, via social media, that one of our guests believes one of her drinks may have been tampered with during her visit to one of our Boston restaurants. We take such matters very seriously and immediately launched an investigation,” the post read.

The statement from Legal Sea Foods didn’t go into detail about which Boston location this possible incident occurred. There are multiple Legal Sea Foods locations in Boston, at the Logan International Airport, and in Massachusetts.

The restaurant chain also didn’t provide more information about the incident, other than adding that their staff are “trained and certified to ensure safe, welcoming, and respectful environments” for customers. Boston.com contacted the restaurant about the investigation but did not hear back in time for publication.

According to Instagram, Legal Sea Foods is also working with local and state authorities to investigate the complaint.
