Tasveer Film Festival Announces Jury For 19th Edition

The Tasveer Film Festival announced an eleven-member jury for its 19th edition, led by Oscar-nominated film-maker Shaunak Sen. The film festival showcases diverse South Asian films every year and will be held in Seattle from October 17 to 20 this year.

Elham Ehsas, Omi Vaidya, Kanak Mani Dixit, Samia Zaman, Geeta Vasant Patel, Beena Sarwar, Arshad Khan, Saket Saurabh, Priya Vashist and Chaitanya Sareen (USA) are the other members on the jury.

“I have long admired Tasveer’s unwavering commitment to amplifying South Asian voices worldwide. It is a privilege to return to Tasveer as President of the 2024 Film Festival jury and contribute towards this important mission,” said Sen.

Tasveer is the only South Asian film festival with an “Oscar-qualifying” status. This year, the film festival received nearly 500 submissions, resulting in a final lineup of 110 films, 91 of which are shorts. The featured films are from 14 countries including the U.K., Portugal, Denmark, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and North America.
