Pink Floyd Singer’s Guitar Snaps In Video

Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour recently faced an issue as his guitar strap tore during a recent performance . However, that didn’t stop him from playing.

Gilmour recently started his world tour in support of his latest solo album, “Luck and Strange.” During a recent concert at the Circus Maximus in Rome, Italy on September 28th, Gilmour faced an issue that many guitarists encounter. The Pink Floyd mastermind was in the middle of performing “Comfortably Numb” when his guitar strap snapped in two.

An experienced guitarist, Gilmour didn’t let this unhappy incident stop him from singing the song’s chorus in unison with the fans. While singing, he attempted to put the strap back in place. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be done, so Gilmour signaled to his guitar tech, who quickly arrived with another Fender signature instrument.

Gilmour quickly swapped out his guitar, and he was just in time to blaze through the famous “Comfortably Numb” solo. Sadly, there’s a possibility that the now-broken strap was the one used by Jimi Hendrix around 1970, which Gilmour’s wife Polly bought for him as a present during an auction in 2006. However, if it is Hendrix’s strap, a chance remains that it can be fixed.

David Gilmour is not the only artist to have made it through an on-stage slip-up. Earlier this year, Paul Gilbert recalled his biggest live blunder, and we can’t forget DJ and metalhead Sullivan King accidentally launching his guitar at a photographer instead of a guitar tech. If you’re playing live, you’re bound to have some bad luck creep up on you.

Damaged guitar strap aside, Gilmour’s Luck and Strange tour is still rolling ahead. The guitarist is set to perform at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall next week for seven consecutive days 9th to 15th October.
