    POP WARNER: Warriors get a taste of high school football

    With Carmalita Park deemed unplayable, the Charlotte Warriors moved Saturday’s home date with the Fort Myers Falcons to nearby Smuggler’s Stadium, home of the Charlotte Tarpons.

    Playing on the high school team’s field, didn’t lead to any wins against the Peace River powerhouse program, but it was a great experience for the kids play on their future home turf.

    The 9U and 14U Warriors stepped out, playing Cape Jr. and the Naples Gators, respectively.

    6U Falcons 26, Warriors 0: Playing in their Cancer Awareness Pink jerseys, the 6U Warriors continue to work and learn each week despite multiple season long injuries.

    8U Falcons 13, Warriors 0: The defense played its heart out, holding the Falcons to only 13 points and forcing a turnover via fumble. Gage Rainville was on fire with seven tackles and two sacks. Leland Garner, Theodore Medler, Robert Satterfield, and Antonio Cerniglia also had tackles in the backfield. Ddefensive backs Josiah Walters, Mekhi Jackson, Traiden McClary, Kevin Loether and Chase Young all had great games with multiple tackles. McClary ran for 78 yards, followed by Cerniglia with 28, and Jackson with an 11-yard run for a first down. Noah Araujo showed up in his first turn at running back and ran for 4 yards and broke a tackle.

    9U Warriors 29, Cape Jr. 0: The Warriors recorded their fourt shutout this season behind defensive standouts Colton Gerhart, Kentyn Lombard, William Medler lI, Ayden Johnson, Nolan Lorino, Breiden Mack, and Waylon Belcher. On offense, Anthony Redden played well with three rushing touchdowns while Lombard had a nice run for a touchdown. Jerrett Marazon had a handful of big carries and made a pair of extra-point kicks. The offensive line was led by Kamden Knuttel and Grant Taylor.

    10U Falcons 31, Warriors 0: Roman Cabrera and Eli Collins found a connection again this week, hooking up for several big completions. Kellen White had a couple of nice catches. Running backs, Kenny Chambers and Krisean Terrell, along with Jace Day and Josiah Pierre ran hard and never gave up. Defensively, Layne Durrance and Josiah Pierre were laying the boom all day long. Patrick Horne played a great game at cornerback with several pass breakups and one interception.

    12U Falcons 32, Warriors 0: The Warriors fought hard but came up short on several offensive drives. Defense played well but surrendered several long runs from the Falcons

    14U Naples Gators 13, Warriors 0: On Senior Night, the 14u Charlotte Warriors showed resilience and grit as they fought a tough battle against the visiting Naples Gators. Going into halftime only down 6-0, the Warriors couldn’t get out of their own way. A kickoff return touchdown by Eli Rodgers called back and during the third quarter, the Warriors turned the ball over while hey were driving toward the end zone.

    ENGLEWOOD

    12U Hardee 47, Panthers 0: The Panthers played hard throughout the game despite being shorthanded. Hardee (4-1) built a 24-point lead in the first quarter as the Panthers turned the ball over three times on fumbles.

    Hardee’s defense held the Panthers in check most of the game except for Finn Angleillis, who gained some tough yardage.

    On defense the Panthers were led by Angelillis, Nick Guerrero, Michael MacLeod, Nazar Marchuk, and Jaden Noeth,

    Englewood (1-4) will travel to Sarasota to face the Sun Devils White next week, weather and conditions permitting.
