General Hospital’s Maurice Benard revealed why he needs to reach a new milestone of subscribers for his mental health podcast, State of Mind.

    Subscribers And Sundaes

At the start of his latest podcast episode, with guest and GH co-star Tabyana Ali, Benard did what all YouTube content creators do and asked his viewers to subscribe. Since SOM began in 2020, it’s gained over 143,000 subscribers, and now, the Soap star is in need of 200,000.

“Please subscribe, hit this button right here, blah blah blah blah,” Benard began the episode alongside a Subscribe button on screen. “We want to get to 200,000 subscriptions, so I can have a…” he continued. “Hot fudge sundae.”

The joke garnered a laugh from Ali before he, on a more serious note, went on to actually reveal his next endeavor.

    Future Plans

Benard began his conversation with Ali by talking about her love of pigeons and her desire to one day own one. That was when the actor, author, mental health advocate, and podcast host mentioned the ambition he wants under his belt.

“We’re trying to build a sanctuary,” he revealed after talking about his and his wife’s rescue dogs. “We actually raised some money recently for that and my wife’s serious about it, so we’ll see what happens.”

Benard often films videos with his goats, and mentioned the difficulty of living with parrots who mimic him.
