'I know Liverpool has been watching me - I am not ruling out making January transfer'

Swedish star Daniel Svensson has revealed he plans on leaving his current club soon after confirming Liverpool’s interest in him .

The versatile midfielder, who can also play at left-back, was linked with a move to Anfield during the summer . Football Transfers claimed in August that Svensson was of interest to Liverpool and Juventus amid comparisons with Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga .

And the 22-year-old has now seemingly confirmed he is aware of the Reds’ interest, and has talked up the possibility of moving on from Danish club Nordsjaelland.

Asked about his recent links to Liverpool and Juventus, Svensson told Fotballskanalen : “Great fun, of course. It’s a sign that I’m doing something right and performing well. I just take it as fuel to drive on. Of course, it was a bit surreal. It was perhaps not entirely expected that I would read about it.”

Asked specifically about Liverpool , Svensson responded: “I don’t know much about it. I just know that they have seen some games and such. More than that, I don’t know.

“I’m in the fifth season now. The idea is that I’m going to move on relatively soon anyway,” he replied when asked if he could leave Nordsjaelland in January. “It’s absolutely not impossible, but it might be that I play the whole season and then move on.”

Svensson has become one of Nordsjaelland’s most important players since making the move to Denmark in 2020, having made 145 appearances for the club, including 11 in the current season.

Liverpool fans will be able to watch him in action during the international break, with Svensson having received a late call-up to Sweden’s squad for their Nations League games against Slovakia and Estonia, when he will be aiming to make his senior debut for his country.

Liverpool.com says: Svensson certainly has plenty of glowing reviews to his name, having been compared to the likes of Camavinga and Moises Caicedo. Clearly, there won’t be too many Liverpool fans who will have seen his exploits in Denmark, so there might be one or two tuning in to watch Sweden over the international break.

Having his versatility would certainly be a big plus point for Liverpool, especially with Andy Robertson now the wrong side of 30. Liverpool will probably need to start thinking about his eventual heir at left-back, and Svensson could be an option, especially if he can offer something in midfield as well.
