Everyone's Saying The Same Thing About New Lakers Jerseys

The 2024-25 season marks a new era for the Los Angeles Lakers.

While they're still chasing another championship with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, the hiring of rookie coach JJ Redick is a clear sign the Lakers are finally striving to build a consistent, winning program that can compete in the NBA for years to come.

But amotion-based offense relying heavily on the long ball and increased attention to detail defensively aren't the only reasons why watching Los Angeles in 2024-25 will be different. The purple-and-gold will literally look different, too, and their legion of fans seems very happy about it.

The Lakers unveiled their new "California Destiny" City Edition uniforms on Tuesday, sparking fawning reactions from fans on social media.

Also coming to Crypto.com Arena for "California Destiny" on select nights this season, beginning Nov. 21? A purple-and-black tinged court to match the Los Angeles' popular new threads.

Though hiring Redick was definitely a move made with big picture in mind, that hardly means the Lakers have punted on competing for titles in the twilight of James' career.

Los Angeles finished seventh in a crowded Western Conference last season, advancing through the play-in tournament before being eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.

James and Davis are a year older, the Lakers made no major personnel additions over the summer and the West is as load as ever. Even if Los Angeles is objectively better this season, basically, that doesn't guarantee Redick's team will even get to the playoffs, let alone make real noise once there.

One thing the Lakers can certainly count on in 2024-25, though? Looking good for "California Destiny" nights.
