There's no doubt that Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward is making waves in the college football world.

The talented senior QB has put forth perhaps the strongest Heisman Trophy resume through the first half of the 2024 season, at which Miami sits a perfect 6-0.  Ward has completed a career best 69.8% of his passes for 2219 yards with 20 touchdowns to 5 interceptions for an incredible 182.4 passer rating in 2024.  He's also added 161 yards and 3 more scores on the ground.

Beyond just the stats, he's proven to have a clutch gene, engineering a late game drive to help secure a win against Virginia Tech before rallying the Canes from 35-10 down to a 39-38 win last Saturday night against Cal.

His standout season hasn't gotten past Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons.  The Dallas star defender shouted out to Ward in a big way this week on his podcast.

"I want to give my flowers to Cam Ward. I've seen back-to-back weeks where his poise, his determination, his relentless attitude of teammates and expecting more.  Mind you, I've never met Cam Ward a day of my life, but from what I've seen on a football field, when you talk about a quarterback who I want on my team, it would be Cam Ward .

"I mean, early, Virginia Tech - came back.  Now he's down 21 against Cal, and comes back. What does that say about how much his team believes in Cam, right? We know we got our guy. Now, what does that say that Cam, how much he believes in his process, his teammates, right?

"That all matters, bro.  When your quarterback is locked in like that, I mean, I think he's playing at a high - bro, Cam Ward, I think he has a chance to be taken.  When you look at what he's doing right now, doesn't care about the interception - like, I can just tell, it's next play, next play. Like, he's truly got that dog mentality. Can do it all. He's reading coverages. He's one of the ones. He's one of the ones."

It's hard to find higher praise than that from an NFL star.  Parsons is one of the very best in the NFL, so for him to watch Ward's game and believes he's going to be a successful quarterback in the league because of his physical skills, his attitude, and his mind for the game, that's a pretty good vote of confidence.

When you hear players saying they'd want them on their team, that's about as much of a compliment that a player can make for you.

Ward has shown off that "it" factor this season, and he's done it in places that aren't easy.  On the road in a very loud and hostile environment against Florida.  And in game situations where a single failure will spell defeat.  He came through twice when Miami needed him over the last two weeks.

There's no doubt that NFL teams will have their eyes closely on Ward the rest of the season. If he can continue his strong level of play, there's a good chance he could end up being a first-round quarterback and perhaps the first one taken.

NFL teams are looking for an alpha dog, someone who's not afraid of the big moment.  Someone who's going to get the team to buy in and rally around him as a leader.  It sounds like one NFL player is certainly already sold on that regarding Ward.
