Who would have thought that Cross Canadian Ragweed tickets would one day be more challenging to get than Taylor Swift tickets? Yesterday, after "The Boys from Oklahoma" event featuring Cross Canadian Ragweed and the Turnpike Troubadours sold out the first two shows during presale, the Oklahoma native bands worked diligently with organizers to add two more nights to get tickets to as many fans as possible. https://www.instagram.com/p/DA1xoVdOfLy/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=a6476c97-19b5-41b6-9169-e9ab180d70a6 After adding shows on Thursday and Sunday, the concert has expanded to a four-night residency at Oklahoma State's Boone Pickens Stadium from April 10 to 13. Rolling Stone
spoke with the members of Ragweed, and all the members shared that they were astonished at the response from fans. Cody Canada was taken aback by so many fans wanting to come to their first show in 15 years. "I had no idea it would be this big. I am so grateful.” When Doussan Music Group, the event organizer, brainstormed the initial show on April 12 with Oklahoma State Athletics, the expectation was for a single show that would, hopefully, sell 40,000 tickets. But that number was blown out of the water when there were 150,000 fans registered for presale in a single day, and over 200,000 still logged on to get tickets after all the presale tickets sold out, which prompted DMG to reach out to Cross Canadian Ragweed about adding the additional two shows. This meme embodies what it was like to emerge from the massive queue with a ticket in hand. https://twitter.com/GarrettSmithTX/status/1843423708750458933 Russell Doussan, president of Doussan Music Group, told the publication that he had never witnessed the demand for this show before.
“I’ve been in the business 31 years. I’ve been a part of some major, major projects, and I have never witnessed anything like this before. I was in Stillwater this weekend [for an Oklahoma State football game], and for the entire day, I could not take two steps without somebody either coming up to me or overhearing a conversation about this concert, as if it was going to happen next weekend. It’s still six and a half months away. I was part of the Guns N’ Roses reunion tour. I did their stadium show in New Orleans, and this is beyond that." Today, the group sold out the two added dates, making the four-night event one of the biggest events Stillwater, Oklahoma, will see. While Stillwater and Oklahoma State are used to selling out Boone Pickens for football games, this is the first concert held in the stadium, making it a monumental event for the community. Talk about a helluva homecoming residency for these Boys From Oklahoma. Ragweed should take the demand for these shows as a sign to go on tour... Stillwater is going to be rocking and rolling come April of 2025. https://www.instagram.com/p/DAyegAmO3ry/
