A 29-year-old man has been arrested by US Marshals and charged in a hit-and-run that hospitalized a local teen and caused a lockdown at George Washington Middle School.

29-year-old Zsavon Walters has been charged with malicious wounding and hit and run with a personal injury related to a crash at the corner of Montgomery and N. Patrick Streets on Oct. 4, 2023.

Walters was allegedly driving a Penske truck when he struck a 15-year-old boy. The issue also caused  George Washington Middle School to go into “secure the building” status after Walters allegedly drove to the rear of the school. A School Resource Officer drew his gun to protect students and the driver fled.

The vehicle was later found at the Eisenhower Connector unoccupied.
