This has removed access to the Rotten Room - no great loss - but does expand your options. This time, spin the small Cube until you find the face that's bordered by two icons that look like modified infinity symbols. (This is an alchemical symbol for brimstone, also known as the Leviathan Cross.) You can now enter the big Cube through the doorway and climb the stairs to a new area. Labyrinth Prison BluesIt's time for another brief digression about ending spoilers. Skip down a couple of paragraphs if you don't want to hear about this yet. Your interactions with Maria in the Labyrinth are another factor that potentially determines your ending. Unlike the hospital, there doesn't seem to be a way to have another actual conversation with Maria while you're here. She'll keep humming tunelessly to herself every time you revisit her cell in the Center, thus displaying more red flags than the United Nations. If you're looking to secure Maria's ending, however, revisit her cell at least twice over the course of your run through the Labyrinth. Conversely, if you don't want Maria's ending, don't come back here at all. Just go through the Labyrinth and let Maria take care of Maria. <h2>Desolation Row</h2>The Desolate Area is quiet, with the same invisible ceilings as the first floor of Toluca Prison. Naturally, this means it's got a bunch of spider Mannequins on patrol through its hallways. Worse news: somebody with a big, heavy sword has been through here recently. From the save point on the wall, go north. There's a health drink at the end of the hall. Grab it, then backtrack to the unlocked door in the hall. This leads to a bedroom with a conclusively wrecked closet. Go through the hole that's been punched in the closet's back wall to find a storage room, where a Mannequin is guarding a few boxes of ammunition. Its east exit leads to a ladder that you can descend to reach a new map, the Flooded Area. Make your way down the underground passage while watching out for Lying Figures in the water. You'll soon pass a hole in the wall that you can look through to see an abandoned key, but the door to that room is locked. Go south instead. The passage takes you to a second ladder. When you climb it, you'll find a door and a portcullis, the latter of which is prevented from opening by a pair of handcuffs on a valve wheel. The door is unlocked, and leads to a darkened hallway. Watch out for Mannequins from above as you explore. You'll eventually find another ladder, which takes you back underground. Dispatch a few enemies on your way to the small storage room you passed earlier, where you can collect the Small Key. While you can unlock the door nearby to head into the previous tunnel, it's easier to go back the way you came and use the Small Key to remove the handcuffs from the gate wheel. Key: Small Key Use the wheel to raise the gate and follow the hallway to the north. You'll end up in an empty room north of the entrance hall. Move the wheeled cart to unblock a crawlspace, which lets you return to the save point from here if you want. You can also look through the hole in the east wall to see a sparking junction box, which has a pair of wire cutters jammed into it. Otherwise, use the cart to reach the open window in the north wall. In this new hallway, you can find a ladder that takes you to a new part of the Flooded Area. The only way forward from here is a small hole at the base of the nearest wall, which will collapse as soon as you crawl through it. The path forward here is blocked by a chain-link fence. Turn right and follow the cavern. You'll soon find a hallway that's infested with more bugs. More crucially, you've caught back up with Pyramid Head, who's on patrol in this area. Fighting him is pointless. Instead, run away and circle around to the north end of this circular room. You'll enter Pyramid Head's private workspace, which unlocks the trophy/achievement Inner Sanctum. There's a weak wall in Pyramid Head's foundry that you need to break down to proceed, but Pyramid Head is likely right behind you. While he won't follow you through the broken wall, you may need to run back outside and bait him into the other side of the hall. Otherwise, you might finish smashing the wall right in time to catch a great sword to the back. Once the wall's down, climb the ladder on the other side. You'll end up in a narrow hallway full of acidic Lying Figures, which is the kind of problem that shotguns were made to solve. At that hallway's end, go through the open door to retrieve the Wirecutter. This will let you take down the chain-link fence in the Flooded Area, but due to that cave-in from before, there's no way back there except going straight back through Pyramid Head's territory. While you're ducking him, there is a secret area near his sanctum. There's a ladder on the east side of Pyramid Head's patrol area that's easy to miss. Climb it to find an isolated storage area with some useful supplies and a Strange Photo. Grab that, then double-time it back to the fence. Use the Wirecutters to remove it. There's another bottomless pit on the other side, and all you have to do is jump into it. You'll end up back in the Center of the Labyrinth.
