According to a crash report from the sheriff’s office, a tractor hauling an empty grain bin began to cross the train tracks and the driver didn’t see the train coming until the last second when he attempted to stop. The train conductor told deputies that despite applying the train’s brakes, the train crashed into the tractor, the crash report states.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the tractor died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver has been identified as 60-year-old Carl Adolf Kuhn from Fort Atkinson.

An investigation into the crash, conducted by the sheriff’s office and Canadian Pacific Railway, is ongoing.
