MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace began her Tuesday show by pointing to recent comments from Donald Trump giving false information about the emergency response to Hurricane Helene.

With Hurricane Milton nearing the Florida peninsula, Trump's comments sound oddly familiar, Wallace said.

"Where we are here today with Donald Trump," Wallace began, noting how necessary it is to work together and for parties to come together. "And when the time came... as this official told Politico, you need people to come together and work together, and we saw Trump be tested, and we saw him fail when he was faced with a once-in-a-century pandemic . And he did not trust the experts and the scientists, and he spread disinformation and delusions because he thought that it would benefit him politically to do so."

She played a clip of Trump asking, "Supposing you brought the light inside the body" that could kill the virus or using disinfectant through "injection inside or almost a cleaning." In another clip, Trump falsely bragged that Hydroxychloroquine was a miracle drug that could prevent the virus. He also said wearing a face mask wasn't for him.

Wallace said that Trump would likely have a difficult time admitting it because he couldn't even admit he lost in 2020, but the pandemic may have very well cost him the election, according to a political autopsy from his own pollster."

Now it's four years later, Wallace continued, with four weeks before the election, and it "feels like a déjà vu moment, because the gap between what is needed from all of our leaders in a time of crisis, when life and death decisions are being made based on the information input — when all of that is on the line. And what Donald Trump is offering in his indifference to the outcome looks a lot like it did in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic."
