Two major companies end WFH and order workers back into office full-time

Two corporate giants have rolled back their flexible work policies and require staff to return to the office full-time .

Workers at Dell received a mere four-day warning before the significant switch. Previously embracing a hybrid model that gave staff two days of home comfort, Dell has now decreed a return to the 9-to-5, on-site work week.

Travel firm Flight Centre is calling its team back to desks and storefronts for a five-day stretch, though it will allow for travel exceptions , reports the Express .

Through internal communication, Dell promoted the office comeback as an invaluable chance for skill enhancement within a brick-and-mortar professional enclave, emphasizing: "Working remotely should be the exception rather than the routine."

On the same note, Flight Centre underscored the importance of face-to-face connection among colleagues in its directive to Australian employees, asserting: "A key part of our culture is the ability to form connections together in person."

The directives touch down on Australian soil, with Dell's approximately 1,500 staff and Flight Centre's extensive crew all implicated.

These reversals join a corporate trend line away from pandemic-induced remote working freedoms, bucking what some had considered the new norm.

Last month, Amazon boss Andy Jassy sent out a memo to the workforce, shaking up the status quo with new office attendance rules and nudging employees to get their ducks in a row for more face time at the desk.

Jassy penned: "Our expectation is that people will be in the office outside of extenuating circumstances."
