JD PicKell Gives His Score Prediction for No. 1 Texas vs. No. 18 Oklahoma

No. 1 Texas will travel to Dallas to face No. 18 Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry on Oct. 12.

The rivalry matchup doesn't need to add much fuel to the fire, but it does mark the first SEC meeting between the two programs. The hatred between the two schools provides one of the most unique atmospheres in college football.

Fans of the Longhorns and Sooners are split in burnt orange and crimson at the 50-yard line, ticket sales are split 50-50 between the two schools, and the game is an iconic part of the State Fair of Texas. It doesn't get much better than that.

It's the type of rivalry where records and point spreads can be thrown out the window. Last year, the No. 3 Longhorns fell to the No. 15 Sooners, 34-30, in the final minute of the game. Texas will look for revenge this year and are viewed as the 14.5-point favorite over Oklahoma.

On3 Sports college football analyst JD PicKell is aware these type of games can go in either direction. Regardless, he felt it was tough to pick against Texas this season. PicKell predicted the Longhorns to defeat the Sooners 33-20 on Saturday afternoon.

"History would tell us that this game, regardless of what either team has done to this point in the year, it’s going to have more than a puncher’s chance," PicKell said .

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to make his return for the Oklahoma matchup after missing the last 2.5 games due to an abdominal strain.

This game transcends rankings. No one can know how it will come out.

It’s just gonna be a good old Texas butt kicking contest and every time Oklahoma coughs. They’re gonna be spitting horns
