The warning signs apparently were present prior to Pete Rose’s death last week.

Rose was found dead at his home in Las Vegas, Nev. last Monday by his son, Tyler. The coroner reported that Rose’s death was due to heart disease and that the 83-year-old had died of natural causes.

According to a story published by TMZ Sports on Tuesday , a friend had taken Rose to the hospital on Sept. 25, five days prior to his death. The woman felt Rose was “acting different.” The doctors ran tests and determined Rose was fine, so he was sent home.

Additionally, Rose’s former Cincinnati Reds teammate, Tony Perez, said the Hit King was not feeling well during a meet-and-greet in Nashville prior to his death.

Rose is MLB’s all-time hits leader, plus a former NL Rookie of the Year and NL MVP winner. He won two Gold Gloves and three World Series, and he was a World Series MVP during his lengthy career.

There has been no word yet on whether Rose will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in the future. Rose had been given a lifetime ban from MLB for gambling on baseball while serving as a manager.
