Certified Florida Man Named “Lieutenant Dan” Is Attempting To Ride Out Hurricane Milton In The Tampa Harbor In His 20-Foot Sailboat

Hurricane Milton is quickly approaching the state of Florida. Meteorologists all across the country have been shocked to see just how strong this storm has gotten as it has rotated and gained strength in the Gulf of Mexico. Florida is now bracing for what appears to be a Category 5 hurricane that will reportedly bring once-in-a-century damage to the state. Particularly in the Tampa area, where the storm is expected to make landfall later on Wednesday. Some forecasts and models are predicting storm surges as high as 10 to 15 feet. Obviously, that's called for much of the state to evacuate in order to keep Floridians safe. But there's one man that's positioned in the Tampa Harbor that is refusing to budge, and he goes by the name "Lieutenant Dan." The one-legged-man currently calls a 20-foot sailboat home, and he's apparently refusing to leave the area because God told him to come there in the first place. His argument is that he's on a boat, and when the water starts to rise, he and his sailboat will just rise with it: That's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for him. On paper, this is just your classic "Florida man who thinks he can take the Category 5 Hurricane head on" story. But there's a large congregation that's now worried for the man called "Lieutenant Dan," and they're desperately trying to get the guy to abandon ship before it's too late. Even the Tampa Police paid the man a visit to let him know that he would be forcefully evacuated if he didn't leave behind his boat: And in one of the latest updates from the TikTok account that's been keeping everyone updated on "Lieutenant Dan," the Florida man determined to ride out the hurricane (which in no way is advised, just to be perfectly clear) insisted that God directed him to be in his boat in Tampa when Hurricane Milton makes landfall, and that he'll be just fine when the generational storm hits: "I'm gonna be fine because I'm in a boat that floats. Again, the water is on the outside. Now the winds, yes the wind is gonna pick up, but my anchor is tied to the dock. I'm not gonna go anywhere. God has got my back."
