Blood transfusions are essential for so many people living with urgent medical care needs, and donations in the Southeast are key to keeping our nationwide network stocked. The Red Cross operates through a national inventory with the ability to move blood wherever and whenever needed.Red Cross officials said anyone interested in donating to help hurricane recovery efforts can do so by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.*Further instructions on how to set up a donation appointment can be found at the bottom of this article.As the Red Cross continues to urge people to give blood or platelets as soon as possible, their teams are also on the ground working to provide vital relief − like food, water, shelter and support − in communities devastated by Helene and in the path of Milton.
