As Florida braces for Hurricane Milton to make landfall, social media users are questioning a network’s decision to send a beloved meteorologist close to the action.

Today shared a video on Oct. 8 of how co-anchor and meteorologist Dylan Dreyer and her team are getting ready for the storm in Florida, but along with comments urging her to stay safe, many fans critiqued the fact that she’s there in the first place.

The video begins with Dreyer doing a grocery haul of the non-perishable food that she and her crew have stocked up on to get through the storm. “Grocery shopping is not my favorite thing to do, and when you’re on a hurricane coverage you got to make sure you have a little bit of everything because when the power goes out, this is it,” she said.

The camera then panned across a loaded kitchen counter, showing items like canned coffee, granola bars, nuts, beef jerky, candy, chips, and fruit.

“A lot of stuff that doesn’t need refrigeration,” continued Dreyer. “We also have to bring our little medicine cabinet,” she said, pointing to an array of medicine before showing disinfecting wipes, a large water cooler full of ice, and bottled water. “I think we have everything, and we’ll see how things change when the lights go out,” she concluded.

One person questioned why Dreyer was in Bradenton, a town south of Tampa. As of writing, that part of Florida is in an area that could get hit by the hurricane late Wednesday night going into early Thursday morning, reports CNN . “You need to evacuate, lived there 11 years,” wrote the fan.

Another person chimed in, saying “Why are they not evacuating??? This is not an experiment dude,” while a third said “Why put her at risk???”

Others asked “If this hurricane is deadly, why put reporters there?!? ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼 be safe!,” with some sharing that they “would hope they put her somewhere a few miles inland away from the storm surge. Hopefully.”

“I wish she wasn’t there ☹️☹️☹️,” wrote another fan, while many more chimed in, wishing Dreyer and her crew luck and safety.
