Georgia Tech wide receiver Christian Leary, who transferred from Alabama in January of 2023, is redshirting and will be entering the transfer portal after the 2024 season.

The former four-star recruit out of Orlando, Fla., came to Tuscaloosa in 2021, where he only caught three passes for 10 yards over two seasons.

In his first season as a Yellow Jacket, it looked as if Leary had found his home as he finished with 25 catches for 309 yards and four touchdowns. Those stats were all in the top five on the team. He also returned 21 kicks for 463 yards.

One of his four touchdowns will never be forgotten, as his 44-yard touchdown grab against Miami in week six of last season followed the Hurricanes' denial of kneeling out the game.

Nevertheless, 2024 has not gone the way Leary planned, as he has played just 40 snaps - he played 44 snaps during one game in 2023. He caught just three passes for 27 yards during Georgia Tech's first six games.

The Yellow Jackets are 4-2 on the year, with their week zero victory over Florida State captivating the college football world for a weekend.

Quarterback Haynes King has spread the ball around, with five different players owning double-digit receptions.

Alabama is 4-1 following its upset loss to Vanderbilt , who notched its first win over a top-five team in program history.

Georgia Tech will be traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C., this weekend to face the Tar Heels, while the Crimson Tide will welcome South Carolina to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
