This Chinese-American classic is perfect for a quick dinner or a special brunch. Let’s dive into the recipe!

    Ingredients:

    • 3 large eggs
    • 1/2 cup cooked beef, finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup bean sprouts
    • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
    • 1/4 cup carrots, julienned
    • 1/4 cup cabbage, shredded
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    For the Gravy:

    • 1 cup beef broth
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
    • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Egg Mixture:
      • In a large bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Add the chopped beef, bean sprouts, green onions, carrots, cabbage, minced garlic, soy sauce, and the cornstarch mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
    2. Cook the Egg Foo Young:
      • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Pour about 1/4 cup of the egg mixture into the skillet, forming a small pancake. Cook until the bottom is golden brown and the edges are set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining egg mixture, adding more oil as needed.
    3. Make the Gravy:
      • In a small saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the gravy thickens, about 2 minutes. Add the sesame oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
    4. Serve:
      • Place the cooked egg foo young patties on a serving platter. Pour the gravy over the top and garnish with additional chopped green onions if desired. Serve with steamed rice.

    Conclusion:

Beef Egg Foo Young is a delightful dish that brings together the best of both worlds: the light, fluffy texture of an omelet and the rich, savory flavors of beef and vegetables. The homemade gravy adds an extra layer of deliciousness, making this dish a standout at any meal. Whether you’re serving it for dinner or brunch, Beef Egg Foo Young is sure to impress. Enjoy the wonderful flavors and happy cooking!

I need the gravy recipe more than anything. there's only two decent Chinese restaurants in Galveston. one has good egg foo young patties but terrible gravy. The other one has terrible egg foo young patties but good gravy. if I learn how to make the gravy I can get the good egg foo young patties from the restaurant and have my own gravy.
