The New York Jets have parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh following a disappointing start to the season and growing tensions with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Jeff Ulbrich, the defensive coordinator, has been named the interim head coach as Saleh exits with a record of 20 wins and 26 losses over more than three seasons.

Team owner Woody Johnson announced the decision, emphasizing that it was not taken lightly but was necessary due to the team’s failure to meet expectations. The Jets began the season with high hopes, especially with Rodgers returning after an injury sidelined him for most of the previous year. However, after a heavy defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the opener, the Jets managed to secure victories against the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots, only to suffer back-to-back losses against the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota Vikings.

Saleh, the first Muslim head coach in NFL history, was escorted from the team's facility by security. Concerns were raised about the circumstances surrounding his firing, particularly in light of his cultural identity. Supporters of Saleh expressed their disappointment, with some attributing the team’s struggles to other factors, including Rodgers’ influence and decisions made by the front office.
