Brightline, the high-speed rail service, has announced a temporary suspension of operations between West Palm Beach and Orlando for Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Brightline website, this decision came as Hurricane Milton approached Florida, prompting preventive measures across the state.

The frequently used rail company stated it would "continue to monitor the storm and provide additional updates as needed."

"Service to/from ORL suspended 10/9 and 10/10. WPB-MIA service operating as usual. Check email for travel updates," Brightline said on its website.

This move aligns with other transportation adjustments in the region, as authorities prepare for potential weather effects.

Meanwhile, Palm Beach International Airport has also taken action, suspending all flight operations on Wednesday. Travelers are recommended to contact their airlines directly for the latest flight information.

    Transportation Services That Are Operating

In contrast, Miami, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, and Key West airports remain operational. However, officials urge passengers to verify their flight statuses before heading to these airports.

Public transit in Broward and Miami-Dade counties is expected to maintain normal operations. The Florida Keys, however, will see service interruptions, with Key West Transit and the Lower Keys Shuttle suspending service on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tri-Rail, another commuter rail service in the area, has also announced it will not run on Wednesday or Thursday.

While Hurricane Milton is not predicted to land directly in South Florida, these preventive measures reflect the region's proactive approach to storm preparedness.

Florida residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed about local updates and follow guidance from authorities as the situation develops.
